Kakaako is considered by many as a paradise. Whether you're looking for romance, adventure, or some relaxing time with your family or friends, Kakaako is definitely the place to visit. Did you ever dream that you could make money from taking a vacation? Here are some tips on how to do so.
AirBnB is the world’s largest “hotel”, where individuals post anything from spare rooms to their entire house as a rental for travelers. With over 2 million listings around the world, it’s a great place to find lodging for less than it might cost from a hotel or traditional rental services. In addition to saving you money when traveling how does this help you to make money while you’re traveling? Rent out your own home while you’re gone! Although this works out best for long-term trips, you can still post your house to see if anyone wants to rent it for the weekend while you’re away. Because AirBnB offers $1 million in insurance protection, you really have nothing to worry about. Pay a friend a few dollars to let the people in and make anywhere from $50-2,000 a night from your home traveling – without paying a penny!
When traveling abroad you certainly don’t need to use your car. Why let it get dusty in your garage, or worse, pay $20/day for it to sit in the airport parking lot? Turo is another great sharing economy tool where people can rent out their vehicles to each other! Like AirBnB, Turo has $1 million in insurance coverage, so renting your car out on the website is completely safe. You can use Turo two ways. First, if you have someone able to watch your car, you can rent it out directly to individuals and make anywhere from $20-50/day by renting your car. Second, if you need to have your car at the airport, Turo will let you leave your car with them at the airport for free and pay you if it gets rented out while you’re away. Parking that pays you – that’s not something anyone expected to see several years ago.

Kakaʻako is a commercial and retail district of Honolulu, Hawaiʻi between Ala Moana near Waikīkī to the east and downtown Honolulu and Honolulu Harbor to the west.
"Our Kakaʻako" is a residential and commercial project led by Kamehameha Schools and Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaiʻi Inc. that aims to improve Hawaiʻi's urban-island lifestyle. The $60 million project will add 183 homes to Kakaʻako, with 88 rental units to be developed by Kamehameha Schools and Castle & Cooke developing the remaining 95 units for buyers. The project will redevelop existing properties in Kakaʻako for residential and commercial space, as well as integrate mid-block pedestrian crossways, networked walking paths, complete streetscapes, green spaces, and unique retail experiences. Our Kakaʻako is estimated to take 15–20 years to complete.
"Salt" is one of the new developments of Kamehameha Schools' master plan, designed for locals and visitors to enjoy a cosmopolitan environment accompanied with green and open-air spaces. It will serve as a marketplace that includes a variety of local retailers and restaurateurs. In accordance to Kamehameha Schools' sustainability efforts, Our Kakaʻako plans to reuse existing warehouses and other structures to preserve the feel of Kakaʻako. The area where the new commercial building will be has become the home of the world-renowned artist-gathering POW! WOW! and the Honolulu Night Market. The development of Salt aims to cater to a larger and more creative demographic in the Kakaʻako area.
